Prismatic College
Prismatic College is one of the three original magickal colleges of World's Mouth.
Description
A rather large, drab building sits somewhat off the center of the city, on a square surrounded with small trees. A large carving into the front wall, above the main entrance, introduces it as Prismatic College, once home to hundreds of students in the magical arts. The college grounds now are far quieter than in the days of old. The college is quiet and calm but no longer still and forsaken.
While the open, silver door still gleams a welcome it is no longer the bold thing it was at its height. Instead it stands ajar just enough to allow admittance without showing its interior to all about. A large colourful bird, its plumage awash in reds, purples and blues, is perched on a stand just inside the door, taking cover behind the portal.
As a curious soul peeks around the door, it opens its eyes, and the flames within regard the soul as it croaks, "Student of the Aether, come within, all else remain without."
Background
Prismatic college has existed almost as long as the city itself has. It is the largest of the three colleges in World's Mouth, and has always been so. Often accused by other colleges of teaching a much too bland and standardised style of magic, the college is indeed strict in its tutoring, allowing a pupil only little room to put a personal touch on his style. The mentors instead focus on raw power, teaching methods to empower a spell. A Prismatic's approach to magic is rough and quick, and such power is wielded with deadly effect.
In recent months many graduates of Prismatic have gone on to work at the Nashorn Institute, attracted by the very consistent and logical application of magic and alchemy there as well as the excellent pay.
