A portal is a magickal contraption creating a way between A and B using the Aether, in such a way that travel is almost instantaneously. Mages are necessary to operate the device. Sometimes people are stuck for a prolonged period between A and B, or get thrown into the Aether entirely. On occasion people get sick traveling with portals, their bodies unable to adjust.
